The holiday season isn’t complete without Galleri Urbane’s annual The Gift Edit(ion), an exhibition of smaller, more modestly priced work. From the exhibition we’ve chosen Meghan Borah’s 2021 Two Girls with Tulips a seven-color silkscreen on paper, however, there are several gems in the exhibition.
A couple of great local books that you can pick up in a pinch:
Dallas Arts District’s Through the Lens features fifty-seven talented photographers on a journey comprised of more than 90 stunning photographs of the Dallas Arts District captured by professional, mid-career, and emerging photographers and selected by an esteemed local jury. All proceeds from the book go to the Arts District Foundation’s Grant Giving Fund for local artists to produce work in the neighborhood.
New to the shelves, Jack Ruby & the Origins of the Avant-Garde in Dallas by Robert Trammell plays out a collection of spectacular, genre-defying stories, including the reimagining of Lee Harvey Oswald’s murder as an attempt to create generation-defining performance art. This debut novel by Trammell is available at Deep Vellum Books.

If you want to support a small business that supports other local businesses check out Mod + Jo in Bishop Arts, the boutique jewelry store features their signature mAud Permanent Jewelry a delicate strand of solid 14k gold (Au) permanently welded as a bracelet or anklet — becoming your next favorite meant-to-be-lived-in piece. Additionally, they currently are featuring a selection of another local brand, BREDA watches.
Another local flourishing gem, Twelve Thirty Four by Patricio Rivera, features Rivera’s custom floral arrangements, custom candles, and limited release vessels. We’d recommend the holiday apt, Santa/Saint Custom Scent candle; but you literally can’t go wrong with any of the scents or products by Rivera.
For the foodie:
