A MIRAGE, NATURAL CONNECTION, AND?A LOVE SCARE AT CRAIGHEAD GREEN

Carole Pierce, Lake Of Miracles

Craighead Green Gallery opens a three-artist summer show with new work by Carole Pierce, Andy Myers, and Bryson Davis Jones on Saturday, June 24th with a reception from 5?8 p.m.

In Mirage, Carole Pierce returns to her native Dallas and Craighead Green Gallery with an exciting, transcendent new series of paintings exploring atmospheric phenomena. Pierce defines her work by the ?natural world [and] the atmospheric conditions that contribute to the weather, the seasons and the

light.? Her work displays a contemporary edge that likens to minimalism and color field painting. Mirage explores the mystical beauty and the unknown as seen through Pierce.

Dallas artist Andy Myers simultaneously embraces and subverts nature through his practice. Myers has ?always been intrigued by the physical and metaphoric nature of trees.? He challenges those ideas by linking the life and death of trees to that of

humans. Myers continues, ?By manipulating the natural qualities of trees, I change these mundane and often overlooked objects into something that questions our ideas of what trees mean to us.? Specifically, in Natural Connection, his latest show for Craighead Green Gallery, Andy ponders ??how our perception of, and dependence on nature would change if, upon death, trees fell limp as humans do.?

Love Scare, the upcoming painting exhibition from Bryson Davis Jones, will display the untamed talents of an artist given free reign. Jones began ?sketching weird shapes? to avoid the boredom of a poorly fit job where he secretly drew on anything that was available. Drawing inspiration from many forms, including music, film, graffiti, and magazines, his time in architecture school ?expanded my brain in ways I did not know were possible.?

The artist layers line, form, texture, and color in interesting ways where thick lines descend into ghosted scribbles. Jones thinks of his work as a series of experiments exploring a life continuum with endless possibilities. ?I no longer just listen to music or watch a film but observe patterns and rhythms, juxtapositions and color combinations.?

All three shows are on view through July 29 at Craighead Green Gallery. craigheadgreengallery.com
