Dallas Architecture Forum is a non-profit dedicated to providing public education about architecture, design and the urban environment. The forum will continue its 2015-2016 Panel Discussion Series on January 26 with Making Fair Park Work.? Dallas Morning News Architecture Critic, Mark Lamster, will host the panel presented in partnership with the Dallas Festival of Ideas and the College of Architecture Planning and Public Affairs (CAPPA) at the University of Texas at Arlington.
As a significant and viable yet underperforming facility, the panel will discuss how Dallas can redevelop Fair Park into a popular destination and an economic generator for its South Dallas surroundings. The city has several options of redevelopment to choose from. In conjunction with the Dallas Festival of Ideas, this program, will bring together community members, decision- makers and thought leaders, to address this serious matter for the city.
?The Dallas Architecture Forum is pleased to present this next panel in its 2015-16 series of thought-provoking panel discussions on topics impacting the citizens of Dallas both locally and globally,? stated Dallas Architecture Forum Executive Director Nate Eudaly. “Each of our moderators will be joined by panelists who are subject matter experts in their respective fields. ?The result will be engaging and thought-provoking discussions for our attendees.?
The panelists include: Walt Humann, Sr., a prominent Dallas businessman and public servant; Virginia McAlester, an architectural historian and preservationist; Vicki Meek renowned artist and the manager of the South Dallas Cultural Center; Don Williams, the Chairman Emeritus of Trammell Crow Co. and philanthropist.
The venue for this Dallas Architecture Forum Panel is the Hall of State at Fair Park. There will be no charge to both Forum members and to the public as a public outreach of the Forum. The panel will be held at 6:30 pm, with an informal reception at 6:00 pm. No reservations are needed to attend the Panel.
