Dallas artists will open their doors on Saturday, Nov. 23, for the 17th year in a row, exhibiting and making art live as part of a longstanding tour of studios and galleries in the city’s eclectic Cedars neighborhood. The tour, the biggest in the event’s history, provides area residents with an unparalleled opportunity to learn about the creative process directly from some of North Texas’ most renowned artists, including Dallas collage artist Glen Gauthier.

The free event, set to take place from 11 a.m.–6 p.m., will feature live music, art demonstrations, and hands-on community activities, as well as feature galleries, artists’ homes and the new resident art spaces at Dallas Heritage Village, again offering visitors the chance to peruse works in process, and completed pieces across a broad mix of artistic mediums and styles.

“We’re thrilled about how much the tour has grown over the years.” said event organizer Jennifer Jobe. “From live music to printmaking, we’ve made it easy for everyone to find something they love!”

The tour also gives audiences the chance to explore the Cedars’ growing number of galleries, including the Janette Kennedy Gallery, the MAC, and Ro2 Art, and to learn more about the artist residencies and programs offered at South Side on Lamar, Cedars Art House, and the Cedars Union.

The Nov. 23 event will feature free transportation by Efrogs and a 24-passenger shuttle with an ADA lift, making it quick and easy for participants to get around the neighborhood. The Bike Friendly Cedars organization will also be on hand, offering pedal-powered tours of artists’ locations like Four Corners Brewing Co., where the Stewpot will be exhibiting work, giving visiting art-lovers the chance to check out its innovative programs employing diverse forms of art and education as part of an effort to activate social change and build community.

At the conclusion of the day’s events, a celebratory “after party” will kick off at 6 p.m. at Lee Harvey’s, and will beopen to the public. The end-of-tour celebration will feature live performances by Dallas musician Lily Taylor featuring Black Taffy.
