Ida y Vuelta Flamenco is set to spark a cultural celebration during Hispanic Heritage Month with an ambitious schedule of events spanning from September 7 to October 20. The Oak Cliff-based nonprofit Flamenco Fever is spearheading these festivities, marking the season with the launch of the inaugural Texas Flamenco Festival.
This fall’s lineup has an extensive range of activities, including flamenco performances, culinary gatherings featuring paella and beer, and various workshops. The events are scheduled across several Texas cities, including McKinney, Plano, Dallas, and San Antonio, offer numerous opportunities for to engage with authentic Spanish arts.
A highlight of the season is the opening of La Cantera Arts Conservatory, a new 4,600-square-foot venue in Dallas. This space, dedicated to flamenco and other performing arts disciplines, was made possible through community donations and is designed to serve as both a dance studio and a performance venue. The conservatory will also host three concerts and four workshops during the Texas Flamenco Festival in October.
Ida y Vuelta Flamenco’s 7th Fall Flamenco Residency is a cornerstone of these events, bringing internationally recognized singers, guitarists, and dancers to North Texas. These artists will not only perform but will also offer local students the chance to learn from them during an eight-week residency. This educational aspect allows students to train and perform alongside professionals in various venues throughout the region.

One of the standout events is Tres Artes The Painter & The Poet, scheduled for September 7 at the Latino Cultural Center in Dallas. This performance delves into the untold romance between Salvador Dalí and Federico Garcia Lorca, explored through poetry, history, music, and dance. The evening will blend art and emotional storytelling in a powerful tribute to Spanish culture and history.
Other notable events include the Flamenco Fever Dinner Show on September 27 at the Turkish Café in Plano and a free flamenco happy hour on October 3 at Ellie’s Restaurant & Lounge in HALL Arts Hotel featuring singer/guitarist Manuel de La Curra from Sevilla. The Texas Flamenco Festival itself will see the Farruco Family, international flamenco stars, performing in San Antonio on October 17th in the historic Pearl complex.
These events are supported by local schools, restaurants, festivals, and theaters, utilizing grants that help cover travel and housing expenses for the artists. This collaboration underscores a community-wide effort to celebrate and sustain the vibrant tradition of flamenco in Texas, with so many events spread across the month, it would be difficult to miss them all.
