The Dallas Symphony Association Board of Governors announced yesterday the election of Margaret McDermott and Margot Perot as Vice Chairmen, effective immediately. McDermott and Perot will join current Vice Chairman, Nancy A. Nasher.
In their role as Vice Chairmen, McDermott, Nasher and Perot will support the DSA Board of Governors Chairman Sanjiv Yajnik, the Board of Governors, President & CEO Kim Noltemy, the DSA executive team and Music Director Jaap van Zweden in setting the vision for the future of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
Margaret McDermott is a long-time supporter of the DSO and is an Emeritus Director of the Dallas Symphony Foundation. She has been a driving force that has propelled the DSO from a point of Dallas pride to an ensemble applauded on the world?s stages. A significant gift from McDermott during the construction of the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center helped move the project to completion. In recognition, the concert hall is named for her late husband, Eugene McDermott.
Margot Perot has played a key role in the DSO?s history since she arrived in Dallas. She and her husband, H. Ross Perot, Sr., were instrumental in the construction of the Meyerson Symphony Center and their tireless support of the orchestra has allowed it to flourish. Perot is an iconic Dallas civic leader, former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dallas Museum of Art, Board member of the Perot Museum of Nature and Science and an active supporter of the Salvation Army.
