Dallas Contemporary is entering a new chapter with an operational refresh designed around how visitors actually use the museum. Starting Thursday, September 4, 2025, DC will be open to the public Thursday through Sunday, 11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Evenings and weekends remain a priority, with robust programming continuing across DC EMPTY, Third Thursdays, Dallas Art Book Fair, the DC Summer Series, and more.
Tuesdays and Wednesdays will no longer be public days. Instead, the museum will dedicate them to educational and private tours, preserving popular offerings like stroller tours for parents and young children on the first Wednesday of each month.
“At Dallas Contemporary, we are guided by our mission to advance the discovery and appreciation of the art of this moment, and we take seriously the need to be responsive and nimble in our operational model, embracing ways to better foster accessibility, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration for our diverse and loyal public,” says executive director Lucia Simek. “Our change in open hours and new staff promotions and adjustments reflect our commitment to strengthening both audience and employee engagement.”
That commitment shows up internally as well. DC has expanded the roles of Visitor Experiences team members whose schedules are affected by the shift, retaining their previous hours while redirecting their efforts to education, curatorial support, press relations, events, and retail initiatives—a flexible model that invests directly in the museum’s community and staff.
The museum also announced three promotions across curatorial, education, and communications:
- Abby Bryant, Curatorial Assistant
- Dorian Dayton, Manager of Education and Visitor Experiences
- Alexandra Hulsey, Senior Manager of Brand Strategy and Communications
To toast the transition, DC invites the community to its Summer Series Closeout presented with Toast Toast Recordings on Saturday, August 30. Expect live music, local vendors, and a celebratory send-off to summer and a preview of what’s ahead.
