Through December 5th, Texas-based art advisory firm C2 is making a bold statement in the Dallas Arts scene with its first-ever pop-up exhibition, She Creates / We Collect. Hosted at Atelier on Flora Street, the exhibition showcases an impressive array of collectible works by female artists, spanning a variety of media.
The exhibition is centered around Louise Bourgeois’ intriguing piece Don’t Worry. Bourgeois was a pivotal figure in 20th-century art and is celebrated for her profound sculptures that delve into themes of childhood, sexuality, and womanhood. Mary Hammon Quinn, C2 president, chose Bourgeois’ playful piece to “set a welcoming and fun tone” for the exhibition, aiming to provide an approachable introduction to modern and contemporary art collecting.

But the allure of She Creates / We Collect doesn’t end with Bourgeois. The exhibition features a rich tapestry of styles and artistic expressions from renowned and emerging artists alike. Visitors can explore, and purchase, the evocative works of Jennifer Bartlett, known for her grid-like paintings; Lynda Benglis’ innovative work; the vibrant, energetic works of Cecily Brown; and Holland Cunningham’s intriguing interpretations of traditional genres.
The show also includes works by Tara Donovan, whose installations transform everyday objects into stunning visual experiences, and Janet Fish, celebrated for her luminous still-life paintings. The abstract expressionist Lee Krasner’s powerful compositions are another highlight.
Rebecca Morris’s abstract paintings provide a splash of bold color and form, while Louise Nevelson’s monochromatic, cast paper relief offer a contrast in both medium and style. Liliana Porter’s playful yet provocative works challenge conventional perceptions, and Analia Saban’s unconventional use of materials blurs the lines between sculpture and painting.

The exhibition also features Alice Tippit’s graphic paintings, which play with symbolism and simplicity, and Claudia Weiser’s works, where minimalism meets a subtle exploration of space and color. Additionally, Dallas’ own Desiree Vaniecia showcases a bold and striking work that explore the complexities of human experience.

C2’s mission, as articulated by Quinn, is to “cultivate collectors at all levels and to advise buyers through the process of acquiring, selling and living with art.” This inaugural Dallas event is seen as an opportunity to introduce C2’s unique advisory approach to the local arts community and celebrate the diverse voices of female artists in the contemporary art world.
While C2 has an established presence with a permanent gallery in Houston, this pop-up selling exhibition marks their first foray into Dallas. She Creates, We Collect at Atelier, 2121 Flora Street, promises to be a destination for art lovers and collectors, offering a unique glimpse into the influential and varied contributions of women in the art world.
