Lauded Dallas-based photographer and Dallas School of Photography Director, Sil Azevedo will host an opening reception for his solo show, Around the World on Saturday May 6, 2017. The exhibition features 30 compelling images plucked from thousands of photographs (and memories) amassed during his 12-week expedition to popular and lesser-known destinations including Madrid, Provence and Cote d’Azur, Dubrovnik, Budapest, Athens, the Himalayas.
Around the World effectively displays a photographer’s love for discovery within unique environs and the ability to ensnare ephemeral qualities such as the interplay of light and darkness. The show exhibits new perspectives of sights such as the majestic Gorges du Verdon (the Grand Canyon of Europe), Sir Norman Foster’s Torre de Collserola, Prague’s Café Louvre (a popular haunt for Kafka and Einstein), and Salvador Dali’s home.
Displaying a photographic narrative of a globetrotter, each black-and-white image divulges the nuances of Azevedo’s wanderings through far-flung places portrayed with the candor of first-person experience and the desire to share it.
Azevedo’s editorial work has been featured in numerous local, national and international publications, including The New York Times, PATRON, and D Magazine, among many others. His fine art photography is included in private collections throughout the United States, Europe and South America.
Around the World opens Saturday, May 6 from 5p.m. to 8 p.m., at 500 Exposition Avenue, #104, Dallas, 75226. RSVP to email@example.com
