The Cedars Union will present HYPERLOCAL V, an exhibition showcasing new works by the eighteen artists of Cohort V, on view from October 31 through November 25, 2025, at Atelier in the Dallas Arts District. Juried by Jessica Fuentes, Editor-in-Chief of Glasstire, the exhibition offers what the organization describes as “an expansive look at the depth and diversity of work being created in The Cedars Union’s incubator program.”
Bringing together artists across painting, printmaking, ceramics, photography, literature, and interdisciplinary practice, HYPERLOCAL V reflects what The Cedars Union calls “the creative pulse of the region.” Each artist contributes a distinct perspective, yet together they embody the collaborative energy and spirit of experimentation fostered within The Cedars Union’s artist residency program.
The exhibition’s juror, Jessica Fuentes, brings a deep understanding of Texas’s contemporary art landscape. A writer and arts professional whose work spans criticism, education, and cultural analysis, Fuentes has contributed to Hyperallergic, The Brooklyn Rail, and Southwest Contemporary, among other publications. As the Editor-in-Chief of Glasstire, she has been recognized with both The Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant and the Rabkin Foundation Travel Grant. Her curatorial perspective underscores the exhibition’s balance of individual expression and communal growth, linking Dallas’s local art ecosystem to broader national conversations.
Participating artists include Ray Albarez, Alvaro Arróliga, Harrison Blake, Katherine Covarrubias, MCat Davis, Maria Esswein, Jordan Funk, Anthony Tungning Huang, Matthew Jones, Felicia Jordan, Kevron Madden, Eliana Miranda, Bao Nghi Ngo, Karla Ramirez-Santin, Anna Redman, Chukwudi Ukonne, José Vázquez Ramírez, and Leigh Ann Williams Hickey. The exhibition will open with a reception on Thursday, November 6 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Atelier, 1801 N. Pearl Street in Dallas. Admission is free and open to the public.
Now in its fifth iteration, the HYPERLOCAL series serves as a marker of The Cedars Union’s ongoing mission to nurture artists at formative stages in their careers. “The exhibition stands as a testament to The Cedars Union’s mission to connect emerging artists with the tools, space, and community necessary to advance their creative practice,” the organization states.
Each residency cycle culminates in this public presentation, revealing the evolution of artists who have spent eighteen months developing their work within a shared creative environment.
Founded to “support emerging artists through affordable studio space, shared tools, and professional development,” The Cedars Union operates as a nonprofit arts incubator located in Dallas’s historic Cedars neighborhood. Its mission extends beyond studio practice, creating pathways for collaboration, experimentation, and growth through exhibitions, workshops, and public programs that “strengthen the cultural fabric of North Texas”
