The Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) played host to its 62nd annual Art Ball, presented by Neiman Marcus. Themed “MOMENTUM,” this year’s gala was a spectacular blend of art, elegance, and philanthropy, reaffirming the DMA’s commitment to dynamic growth and artistic innovation.
As guests, including art connoisseurs, fashion icons, and prominent Dallas figures, made their way to the DMA, they were greeted by a chic, illuminated entrance sign that set the tone for the evening. The event, meticulously designed by Todd Fiscus of Todd Events, featured a sleek, climate-controlled tent where attendees enjoyed cocktails and lively conversation in the PNC Lounge. The interior’s modern, masculine decor, with black velvet drapery and latte-colored carpet, complemented by crystal chandeliers, created a sophisticated ambiance.
Co-chairs Andy Smith and Paul von Wupperfeld, alongside The Eugene McDermott Director of the DMA, Agustín Arteaga, welcomed notable guests including Elaine and Neils Agather, Gonzalo Bueno, and many others. Andy Smith highlighted the importance of the Art Ball, stating, “Supporting the Dallas Museum of Art through this event has been a pleasure and a privilege. The contributions from the Art Ball are crucial for the DMA, facilitating world-class exhibitions, complimentary admission, and a range of educational and outreach programs.”
The theme “MOMENTUM” was chosen to reflect the dynamic force driving the DMA forward, symbolizing both the museum’s rich history and its forward-looking vision. As Paul von Wupperfeld expressed, “The theme ‘MOMENTUM’ perfectly captures the vibrant energy driving the Dallas Museum of Art from an extraordinary past toward a thrilling future.”
Guests were treated to a stunning dinner in the Hamon Atrium, where DJ Romi Q provided the soundtrack for the evening. The atrium’s decor featured rich tones of Turmeric, Sage, and Moss, with artistic lighting adding to the dramatic atmosphere. Agustín Arteaga addressed the guests, celebrating Dallas’ spirit and the DMA’s evolving role as a cultural cornerstone.
The live auction, chaired by Christina Jafar and Catalina Gonzalez Jorba, offered an array of exclusive items, including a Milanese ETRO experience, a stay at New York’s Carlyle Hotel, a Zambian safari, and a curated trip to Bogotá and Cartagena with Arteaga himself. Following the auction, guests enjoyed a three-course meal by Art 2 Catering, featuring dishes like Pan Roasted East Coast Fluke and American Wagyu Beef Tenderloin.
The afterparty, held at Eagle Family Plaza, transformed into a vibrant homage to Bemelmans Bar at the Carlyle, complete with floating artworks of Dallas landmarks. The LA-based Sergio Vellatti and dazzling showgirls entertained guests, who danced the night away, enhancing the evening’s celebratory vibe.
With over 300 attendees and the generous support of sponsors such as Texas Instruments, PNC Bank, and Christie’s Auction House, Art Ball 2024 was a resounding success. The funds raised will directly support the DMA’s mission of offering diverse exhibitions, educational programs, and preserving its vast collection.
