The MAC presents new work and performance by Jeff Parrott in The Universe Is a Room We All Live In and I Am a Modern Shaman and We Are All Aliens. Parrott?s new body of work examines painting and abstraction in relation to time and space. It also provides a look into the otherworldly studio of this Dallas-based artist. A transcendent space?filled with many colors, shapes and textures that change shape on his canvases, Parrot?s studio is most atypical. The Universe Is A Room, serves as record-keeper of this imaginative artist?s mind with his paintings of phenomena, creatures, and places. Viewers will have the opportunity to observe the inventiveness behind Parrot?s painting process through sound and video performances that he calls ?psyexpression.?
Featured in New American Paintings in 2012, Parrott earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2010. He received his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2012. Parrott?s art has been shown at many local venues like the Latino Cultural Center, Bath House Cultural Center, Ro2 Art,?500x Gallery, and the Fort Worth Community Arts Center.?He has also been exhibited in Hungary.
