On the cusp of an exciting fall season, the Dallas Theater Center welcomes new Managing Director, Jeffrey Woodward. Woodward joins the DTC team by way of Syracuse Stage in Syracuse, New York, and the Tony Award-winning McCarter Theatre Center on the campus of Princeton University. Says Board Chair Julie Hersh, ?The Dallas Theater Center board is thrilled to have Jeffrey Woodward lead DTC into a new era of prominence, creating a strong fiscal springboard from which our artistic excellence can flourish.?
Founded in 1959, the Dallas Theater Center is one of the country?s leading regional theaters, performing to some 90,000 audience members each year. The DTC is a resident company of the Rem Koolhaas-designed Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre in the Dallas Arts District (pictured below), in addition to its original home at the Kalita Humphreys Theater on Turtle Creek. ?I am very excited about moving to Dallas and joining Dallas Theater Center,? stated Woodward upon this announcement, citing the ?extraordinary? work of Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty and the DTC staff. ?The city is in the midst of a transformation, and I am thrilled that the arts are being seen as a key part of Dallas? present and future.?
Sure to bring hilarity to the stage, the coming DTC season opens with the world premiere of Moonshine: That Hee Haw Musical on September 2. Two additional world premieres?Clarkston and Deferred Action?make up a thrilling season lineup, along with The Mountaintop, Romeo and Juliet, Dreamgirls, and more, furthering DTC?s commitment to ?produce plays, educational programs and community initiatives that are of the highest quality and reach the broadest possible constituency.?
